West Newton Mr. Peter Kotsifas of West Newton died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Beth Israel Deaconess Needham Hospital. He was 84. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Marchos) Kotsifas, he was a graduate of Waltham High School. He had been a resident of West Newton for the past 51 years. During World War II, Pete served with the U.S. Navy. After the war he worked as a maintenance machinist at the J.L. Thomson Company of Waltham for twenty-five years. After that he held the same position for twenty years at the W.H. Nichols Company, also in Waltham. He also worked nights for twenty years for the maintenance department at Brandeis University in Waltham. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Virginia A. (Keough) Kotsifas; his children, Peter N. Kotsifas and his wife Sandra of Sturbridge and Mark K. Kotsifas and his wife Kim of Framingham; one brother, George N. Kotsifas of Waltham; three sisters, Theresa Manos of Peabody, Clara Boisvert of North Fort Myers, Florida and Bessie Karamas of Waltham; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Leonard B. Kotsifas and father-in-law of the late Evelyn Kotsifas and brother of the late Effie Pappas. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Service in the Greek Orthodox Church Taxiarchae, 25 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the above named church or to the Alzheimers Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140.
