Waltham – Mr. E. Peter Tracey of Waltham, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 82.
Peter was born in Waltham on August 23, 1930, a son of the late Edward and Hazel (Porteous) Tracey, and had been a lifelong resident. He was a Waltham High graduate and after that served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Until his retirement in December, 1980 he worked for twenty years as a Waltham firefighter and after that worked in the audio-visual department for the Waltham school system. Peter was also a longtime sheet metal man with Davidson Fan Company in Newton. He was a member of Local 866 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.
Golfing was his passion however and he went out as often as he could to play a round . . . he also took meticulous care of his yard and gardens, often the envy of the neighbors who remember him as a wonderful, caring and concerned friend.
On August 30, 1964 he married the love of his life, South Boston native Georgia Kosta, and the couple settled in Waltham where they have lived since.
In addition to his wife, Peter leaves his daughter, Lisa M. Tracey of Watertown; his sister, Margaret Valleley of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Peter was also the brother of the late Louise Connor and Phyllis LeBlanc.
Family and friends will honor and remember Peter's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, March 25th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
