Waltham – Mr. Peter P. Yankauskis of Waltham died Monday, October 12, 2009 in the Caritas Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton. He was 95. Peter was born in Waltham on June 8, 1914, a son of the late Anthony and Ursula (Yatkauskis) Yankauskis. He was raised in Waltham and was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and garden. Peter was employed by Railway Express for over forty years until his retirement. Peter is survived by his wife of seventy years, Isabelle J. (Fitzmaurice) Yankauskis; his daughters, Sr. Joanne Yankauskis, O.S.B. of Piedmont, OK and Karen M. Sorbera and her husband, John, of Waltham; his grandson, Philip J. Sorbera, one niece and four nephews. He was the brother of the late Anthony J. Yankauskis. Family and friends will honor and remember Peter's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Saturday before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich, MA 01938 or to the Benedictine Sisters Retirement Fund, 728 Richland Road SW, Piedmont, OK 73078.
