Framingham – Mr. Philip W. Collins, of Framingham, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 in the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was 83.
Phil was born in Waltham on June 14, 1928, a son of the late Philip J. and Ruth M. (Welch) Collins, and had been a Framingham resident for more than forty-five years.He was a graduate of Waltham High School and served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked his entire career as a manager for A & P Stores throughout the region.
He leaves his wife of fifty-seven years, Barbara J. (Gosselin) Collins; his brothers and sisters in-law, Charles Gosselin and his wife, Terri, of Calgary, Alberta, Gloria Passarini and her husband, John, of Lexington and John Gosselin and his wife, Debbie, of Franklin; several nieces and nephews, and his dear friend, Joseph LaRosa of Waltham and his family.
Phil was also a brother-in-law of the late Shirley Ramsey.
Family and friends will honor and remember Phil’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, June 22nd, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
