Waltham – Mr. Philip E. Lord passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 in The Leland Home in Waltham where he had been a resident since 2008. Mr. Lord was born on June 22, 1922, in Milton, New Hampshire, a son of the late James E. and Ruth G. (Wentworth) Lord.
He attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He moved to Connecticut in the mid-1940s and worked at the US Rubber Co. in Naugatuck and US Time in Waterbury.
During the 1950s he was employed at the American Brass Co. in Waterbury. He moved to Vermont in 1960 and worked at the Howe Scale Co. in Rutland. He moved to Massachusetts in 1965 and worked at Electronics Corporation of America in Cambridge for the next ten years. In the late 1970s he was employed at Pneumatic Scale Co. in Quincy.
Philip lived on Worcester Lane in Waltham for 33 years. He was a member of the Trinity Church and the Piety Corner Club.
Philip was a good-natured fellow with an easy smile. He enjoyed spending time at his summer cottage on Milton Pond in New Hampshire. He had a love of gardening, which all of his children share.
Philip's wife of 56 years, Marjorie E. (Slater) Lord, died in 2005.
He is survived by his children, Wesley K. Lord and his wife, Mary, of South Glastonbury Connecticut, James F. Lord and his wife, Elizabeth, of Vero Beach, Florida and Lynn E. Lord of Sanford, Florida, his grandson Timothy Lord of Clermont, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Philip was the brother of the late Earl M. Lord, Richard W. Lord and Ida J. Lord.
Family and friends will honor and remember Philip's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, August 13th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday morning when his Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
His family would like to thank the people at The Leland Home, the Right at Home service, and the Compassionate Care Hospice for their efforts on his behalf.
