Mr. Philip A. Mula, of Waltham and formerly of Clearwater, Florida, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 63.
Philip was born in Waltham on March 12, 1955, a son of Virginia B. (Vincello) Mula of Waltham and the late Pasquale R. "Pat" Mula. He graduated from Waltham High School and then attended both UMass and Wentworth Institute.
He moved to Florida's Gulf Coast forty years ago. Phil worked hard to provide for his family as a landscaper, childcare provider and a water quality engineer for Pinellas County, Florida. He was a wonderful and generous father and was a hands on dad, always there for whatever his sons needed. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking and scuba diving. Philip was funny, patient, loving and positive . . . a truly gentle soul.
In addition to his mother he leaves his sons, Adam Mula (Alexandra) and Tyler Mula, both of Clearwater, Florida; his siblings, Christine Mirabito (Roy) of Lancaster, Patrick "Rick" Mula of Kingsport, Tennessee, Dolly D'Orazio (Tom) of Stow, Joanne Anderson (Scott) of Pepperell, Marie Mortimer (Wayne) of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Michelle Mula Cristofori (Jim) of Waltham and also leaves many cousins including Nancy Kennison and Jeanne Mula Nocera (Joe) and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Phil was also the son of the late Pasquale R. "Pat" Mula and father of the late John Greene.
Family and friends will honor and remember Philip's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, December 16th from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
