Waltham - Mr. Philip F. Murphy, of Waltham, died Friday, March 4, 2011 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was 76.

Philip was born in Malden on June 23, 1934 and had lived in Waltham for over fifty years. Until his retirement he had worked for twenty-eight years as a mechanic for Delta Air Lines. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending many winters in Freeport, Bahamas. Philip also served in the United States Army.

He was the husband of the late Patricia M. (Greelish) Murphy who died September 27, 2010.

Philip leaves his son, Joseph P. Murphy and his wife, Katie, of Fairfield, California; two brothers, John Murphy and his wife, Roberta, of Malden and James Murphy and his wife, Kay, of Naples, Florida; his brother-in-law, Joseph Greelish of Bedford and several nieces and nephews

Family and friends will honor and remember Philip’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Belmont Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box, 14301, Cincinnati Ohio, 45250-0301.
