Philip J. Strazdas

Mr. Philip J. Strazdas, of West Newton, died Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham.  He was 96.

Phil was born in Waltham on April 22, 1927, a son of the late Justin and Fannie (Luksha) Strazdas, and was a graduate of Waltham High School.  After that he served with the United States Navy during World War II.

Following his 1954 marriage to Nashua, New Hampshire native Betty A. (Matyoska) Strazdas the pair moved to West Newton where they became lifelong residents.  Until his retirement he worked for years as a supply manager for AJ Felz Plumbing Supply in Newton.

He had been a former member of the American Legion in South Boston and enjoyed playing golf throughout his life.

In addition to his wife, Betty, and his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Walter Strazdas, Clara Walczewski, Peter Strazdas and Stella Yurkis.  He leaves many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Family and friends will honor and remember Phil’s life by gathering to visit on Tuesday, December 5^th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
