Waltham – Mrs. Phyllis (Consolo) (Trodella) Falbo, of Waltham, died on Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 95.
Phyllis was born in Boston on November 20, 1917, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Fedela (Ricci) Consolo. Before retirement she had worked for many years as an assembler at Raytheon in Bedford.
Her most important job however was fulfilling her role as a loving homemaker. She was always cooking for her family; making calzones, stuffed mushrooms, Italian cookies and, of course, her homemade pizza . . . which could only be cut with scissors. Time spent with her family was cherished and she made sure the house was always decorated for the holidays. She enjoyed crocheting, Lawrence Welk shows, making her much loved "Grammy" blankets and playing Jenga in Ossipee with family and friends. She was constantly caring for others and was loved by all.
She was the wife of the late Anthony Trodella who died in 1962 and Ernest Falbo who died in 1996 and mother of the late Anthony Trodella who died in 2012. Though experiencing many losses in her life she remained strong and demonstrated unconditional love.
She is survived by her children, Joseph E. Trodella and his wife, Carol Fatta, of Gloucester and Richard S. Trodella and wife, Kathleen, of Nashua, New Hampshire; her step-children, Francis Falbo and wife, Norma, Ernest Falbo and his wife, Karen, Barbara Richard and Marie Dion and her husband, Paul; her daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Trodella of Marlboro, her grandchildren, Joanne Horgan, Anthony Trodella, Mary Trodella Murphy, Alison Forest, Erin Grenier, Julianne Bruneau and Jennifer Hamilton and is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Philip Consolo, Angelo Consolo and Mary Scorzello.
Family and friends will honor and remember Phyllis' life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, September 10th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
Memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 800 West Cummings Park, Suite 3400, Woburn, MA 01801.
