Waltham – Mrs. Phyllis M. (Dowcett) Lenza, of Waltham, died Friday, September 2, 2016 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 88.
Phyllis was born in Waltham on August 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (McQuiggan) Dowcett, and was a lifelong resident. She was a 1946 graduate of Waltham High School.
She had been a former member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 Auxiliary and the Mount Trinity Mother's League.
The wife of the late Joseph A. "Mickey" Lenza, she leaves her children, Michael Lenza and his wife, Jane, of Milford, James Lenza of Alabama, Richard Lenza and his wife, Linda, of Missouri and Nancy Lenza and her husband, Paul McGovern, of Waltham; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will honor and remember Phyllis's life by gathering to visit at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning, September 6th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Watham.
