Mrs. Phyllis J. (Cullen) Russo, of Bolton, formerly of Waltham died unexpectedly on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2018 after being stricken ill at home. She was 82.
Phyllis was born February 11, 1936 in Cambridge the only child of the late James and Mary (Caramanica) Cullen. She was raised in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School and later the Katherine Gibbs School. Her husband of 52 years, Raymond F. 'Red' Russo Sr. died March 2, 2010. A lifelong Waltham resident she moved to Bolton seven years ago.
She was her family's rock star and was adored by them. Phyllis looked forward to her vacations and weekends on Cape Cod with her daughter Liz and family. An avid reader she was known to finish four to five books a week.
She leaves her children, Raymond F. Russo, Jr. (Jamie) of Nashua, NH, Elizabeth J. Fairweather (Jim) of Maynard and David S. Russo of Charleston, WV; her grandchildren Justine Ferriter (Chris) and Jason Russo, Matthew (Alysha), Amanda and Danielle Fairweather and Nicholas Russo; her sister-in-law Mary Verducci of Burlington; nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Phyllis' life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Saturday, April 13th from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
