Waltham – Mrs. Pia L. 'Joan' (Mancini) Monaco, of Waltham, died, Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in Woodbriar Nursing Home in Wilmington. She was 92.
Joan was born in Boston on September 25, 1920, a daughter of the late Gaetano and Michelina (DeVincenza) Mancini. She worked for many years with her husband at their business, Rite-Way Cleansers in Cambridge. She had lived in Waltham since 1956 and was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the PFC John M. Sullivan, USMC Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10334 in Waltham.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late Frank A. Monaco, devoted mother of the late William F. and Robert A. Monaco and a sister of the late Antonio, Victor and Henry Mancini and Lucy Holsbo.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Eleanor Mancini of Revere and Eleanor Monaco of Wilmington and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joan's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday morning, October 26th, from 9 to 11 a.m. immediately followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
