Proscovia Ruth Kabunga, of Waltham, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. She was 66.
She was born on April 14, 1953 in Kampala, Uganda a daughter of the late George Kabunga and Night (Namirembe) Kabunga. Raised and educated in Uganda she immigrated to the United States in 1993 settling in Waltham.
Proscovia was working as a licensed practical nurse for Vero Health & Rehabilitation Center in West Roxbury, formerly known as Roscommon Nursing Center. She loved her work, the residents and her co-workers and took wonderful pride and satisfaction in knowing she was making a difference. Sadly, she died as a result of her work in serving and helping others. May she rest in peace.
God and her family were priorities in her life and she will be remembered as selfless and always giving to people. As a strong believer each day she worked serving Him and attended International Family Church in Reading regularly. Proscovia loved time with her grandchildren and all of her family. She will be very much missed.
She leaves her children, George Peter Mugwanya (Katherine), George Ssempogo (Maureen) and Moses Yiga (Jasmine Marcotte), all of Waltham; her grandchildren Georgia Namatovu, Gabriella Ssempogo, George Ssembogo Jr., Joshua Mugwanya, Stephan Mugwanya, Rafael Mugwanya and Michaela Mugwanya; siblings, Abraham Kaddu, Rose Kitaka, Eddie Namagembe, Jessica Namusisi, Babirye Sarah, Patirck Malcumbi, all in Uganda, Juliet Tool and Victoria Namukwaya, both of Sweden, Saul Yawe of Chicago and Deborah Kalya of Waltham; many nieces & nephews including Robert Nyanzi in Uganda; many cousins and friends.
Proscovia's family will gather privately at Joyce Funeral Home followed by burial in Grove Hill Cemetery. A Life Celebration will be held at a future date.
