Rachel M. Barry

Waltham – Mrs. Rachel M. (Sorrentino) Barry, of Waltham, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Waltham Crossings. She was 91.

Rachel was born in Arlington on February 24, 1925, a daughter of the late Alphonso and Mildred (Ragozzino) Sorrentino and was a graduate of Arlington High School. Following her 1958 marriage to Donald J. Barry the couple moved to Waltham where they have been residents since.

She will long be remembered by her family as being a devoted wife and a loving mother . . . she took great care of her home, her garden and her boys. She was the rare person who never had a bad day . . . a smile and kind words were her constant companions.

In addition to her husband of fifty-eight years she leaves her sons, Robert J. Barry of Waltham and John T. Barry of Charlestown and several nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Alfred Sorrentino, Mildred Lynch and Helen Levesque.

Family and friends will honor and remember Rachel's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, March 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
