Ralph Salvucci

Waltham – Mr. Ralph Salvucci of Waltham died Thursday, September 15, 2005 in the Northeast Specialty Hospital in Waltham. He was 85. A lifelong Waltham resident, Ralph was a Professional Engineer and Contractor for his late Father’s business, Peter Salvucci and Sons and, later, for his own business, R & J Salvucci Corporation. Ralph was a graduate of Tufts University and received additional diplomas from Yale University, Princeton University, and Casey Jones School of Engineering. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering, the American Road Builders, the Water Works Association, as well as numerous other construction affiliated memberships. Ralph, a major highway and road building contractor throughout the 1950s thru the 1970s, was instrumental in cutting many major highways and roadways though mountains in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. His companies were known to be the first companies to bring the unions into New Hampshire. Ralph was a proud World War Two veteran who served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant in the Air Corps who was in charge of the maintenance and testing of airplanes. Ralph is survived by his wife, S. Rita (Arcana) Salvucci with whom he had been married for 51 years; his children, Ralph J. Salvucci and his wife, Sharon, of Marlborough, Peter F. Salvucci of Waltham, Stephanie Salvucci Demetri of Waltham, his grandchildren, Stacy and Kaitlin Salvucci and Dean James Demetri, II. He was a special papa to Deana Bono. He is also survived by his sister, Bertha Kelley of Mattapoisett; and his brother, Joseph Salvucci of Waltham. Ralph was the son of the late Peter and Bertha (Pazzano) Salvucci and the brother of the late Peter and Francis Salvucci. The Funeral will be held on Monday at 9 am from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham, followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 am. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Italian Home for Children, 1125 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
