Mr. Raymond P. Poissant, of Waltham, died at home on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. He was 95.
Raymond Paul Poissant was born on August 31, 1927 in Biddeford, Maine a son of the late Adrien and Bernadette (Nadeau) Poissant. A graduate of St. Louis High School he then attended Boston College. Raymond served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a resident of Waltham for over forty years.
Ray worked many years in shipping and receiving for Honeywell Co. before retiring.
A classical guitarist he played in numerous churches, most recently at Elevation Chapel in Newton where he was a member. He also volunteered countless hours in area nursing homes with his music. He loved the ocean and for years maintained a home in Ogunquit where he enjoyed walking the beach. While not blessed with children of his own he was a wonderful uncle and great-uncle.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Maurice ‘Mike’ Poissant, Adrienne Smith and Jeanne Wood.
He leaves ten nieces and nephews and many great-nieces & great-nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Raymond's life by gathering on Wednesday, June 14th in Beech Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Street, Rockport where his graveside service and military honors will be held at 11 a.m. There are no calling hours.
