Waltham Mr. Raymond O. Swanson, of Waltham, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Waltham Crossings. He was 84. Ray was born in Waltham on March 19, 1925, a son of the late Oswald V. and Delia (Ouillette) Swanson, and had been a lifelong resident. During World War II he served with the United States Army Air Corps in Europe. A local realtor, Ray was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 953 in Waltham, the Waltham Triad Lodge A.F. & A.M., the Shriners and the Rotary Club of Waltham. The husband of the late Barbara J. (Champeon) Swanson, he leaves his grandchildren, Mulysa Ann Lesser of Salem, Katrin Jean Guerriero of Danvers, Jerome Davis of Florida and Christopher Gallant of New Hampshire; his niece, Margaret Hanlon and her husband, Mike, of Waltham; dear friends, Christine Hughes and Donna Benoit and her husband, Paul, all of Waltham and three great-grandchildren. Ray was also the father of the late Raymond O. Swanson, II and Gale Gallant. Family and friends will honor and remember Rays life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Saturday, October 31, from 1 to 3 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 3 p.m. immediately followed by Rays funeral service. Burial will be private.
