Waltham – Mr. Rene J. Hebert, of Waltham, died Friday, March 18, 2016 in his home. He was 80.
Rene was born in St. Charles, New Brunswick, on August 22, 1935, a son of the late Amedie and Victorine (Gray) Hebert. As a young man he worked as a lumberjack in Ontario and moved to Waltham in 1964.
A year later, on August 14, 1965 Rene married Andrea H. Cormier at St. Jean Baptiste Church in Bouctouche, New Brunswick and the couple made Waltham their lifelong home.
Until his retirement Rene worked as a boom operator for the Waltham Lime and Cement Company for thirty-six years.
Rene was a hard worker who was devoted to his family. He enjoyed tending to the flowers in his garden, going to Foxwoods, the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots. He loved spending time with his family at their cottage in Bouctouche, overlooking Prince Edward Island.
In addition to his wife, Rene is survived by his son, Robert R. Hebert of Waltham; his brothers and sisters, Therese Daigle of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Jeannette Fournier of Bathurst, New Brunswick, Stella Maurelt of Ontario, Irene Breton of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Adelin Hebert of St. Charles, New Brunswick and Anita Hudson of Thunder Bay, Ontario and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Daniel R. Hebert and a brother of the late Aurel Hebert and Vincent Hebert.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rene's life by gathering on Monday, March 28th in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
