Waltham – Mr. Richard J. Boudrot, of Waltham, died Monday, May 4, 2015 in Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. He was 64.
Dick, affectionately known as "Dickie B" by family and friends, was born in Brighton on May 23, 1950, the oldest of seven children born to Elizabeth "Betty" (Loughlin) Boudrot of Waltham and the late Albert Boudrot. He was a lifelong resident of Waltham and a graduate of Newton Technical High School. After that he joined the United States Navy.
During the Vietnam War Dick was trained at Bainbridge, Maryland and served aboard the ammunition ship USS NITRO. He also spent a year with a Navy SEAL unit in Vietnam until his discharge in 1973. Among other decorations he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.
When he came home Dick became a master electrician and for the past several years worked in that capacity for the Waltham Public Schools. He was well known among his family and in the community as a guy who could just about fix anything. He had also been a longtime coach and a past president of the North Waltham Little League.
In addition to his mother, Dick leaves his wife of thirty years, Karen L. (Brown) Boudrot; his children, Lindsey M. Boudrot of Bedford and Jillian L. Lynch and her husband, Ryan, of Waltham; his granddaughter, Kennedy Lynch; his brothers and sisters, Robert Boudrot of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Thomas Boudrot of Palm Springs, California, Jacqueline Cusano of Raymond, New Hampshire, Michelle Boudrot of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Denise Barnes of Salem and William Boudrot of Billerica; many nieces and nephews, and his favorite cat, Shadow.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dick's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, May 7th from 3 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
