Waltham – Mr. Richard D. Bruhmuller, of Waltham, died on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge after a short illness.
Richard was born November 20, 1946 in Melrose a son of the late Joseph and Delphine (Patenaude) Bruhmuller. Raised and educated in Revere he graduated from Revere High School with the class of 1964 and then earned his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University. He married Waltham native Elizabeth A. DeWolfe on June 26, 1971 in the Espousal Retreat Center Chapel and Waltham became his home.
His professional career as a certified public accountant began with Clarence Rainess and later as partner with Tobin & Waldstein for over twenty years. In 1995 he merged with Walter & Shuffain P.C. in Westwood. Dick enjoyed a successful career of over forty-seven tax seasons where clients became lifelong friends and his professional advice was held in high regard.
An enthusiastic golfer he enjoyed membership at Oakley Country Club in Watertown where he served as its secretary and treasurer. He was immensely proud of being an Oakley Captain in the Boston Summer Twilight League-the oldest golf league in the US. Betty and he enjoyed travelling and looked forward to annual trips to their timeshare at Disney in Florida. Other favored destinations included Las Vegas and Arizona and an occasional trip to Mohegan Sun. He believed in giving back to his community and his college. Richard was a past member of the Corporation of Northeastern University and an accounting scholarship was established in his name.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Bruhmuller.
Richard leaves his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth A. 'Betty' Bruhmuller; his brothers-in-law, James DeWolfe and his wife, Dorothy of Hopkinton, David DeWolfe and his wife, Christine of Cottonwood, Arizona and his sister-in-law, Evelyn Harding of West Brookfield; many nieces & nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will honor and remember Richard's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, February 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Corpus Christi - Saint Bernard's Church, 1253 Washington Street, West Newton where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham,
