Mr. Richard W. Derviss, of South Yarmouth and Hollywood, Florida and formerly of East Islip, New York and Waltham died at home on July 3, 2013. He was 78.
Dick was born on December 13, 1934 in Torrington, Connecticut, a son of the late Charles and Arlene (Weiler) Derviss. He attended Waltham High School where he played on the varsity hockey team and graduated in 1953.
After high school he served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Upon being honorably discharged he earned his Bachelors of Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design in 1960. He spent many years working as an industrial designer and retired from Zyloware after twenty-two years. Dick loved sports and could often be found on the golf course.
He was the husband of the late Eveyln M. (Lally) Derviss. He leaves his children, Michelle Derviss of Novato, California, Cheryl Cormier and her husband, Danny, Laura Roman and her husband, Efrain, all of Sudbury, Jennifer M. Derviss and her husband, Greg Rowland, of Chuluota, Florida and his grandchildren, Amanda and Becky Cormier, E.J. and Emily Roman and Emma Rowland.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dick's life by gathering for calling hours on Wednesday, July 10, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Thursday where his Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
