Waltham - Mr. Richard P. Desrosiers, of Waltham, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the Golden Living Center of West Newton. He was 66.
Richard was born in New Bedford on November 17, 1950, a son of Jean and Lucie (Galipeau) Desrosiers of Waltham. He was a 1969 graduate of Waltham Vocational High School and after that served for six years with the Massachusetts National Guard.
For forty-eight years he worked as a machinist for the Raytheon Company, first at their Waltham plant and later in Andover. He was also a longtime shop steward at the company.
He belonged to the Newton Yacht Club and the Maynard Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. Richard was a lifelong parishioner of Saint Joseph's Church in Waltham until it closed and then joined Sacred Heart Parish in Waltham.
Besides his parents, Jean and Lucie, he is survived by his brothers, Denis J. Desrosiers of Chelsea and Robert M. Desrosiers of Waltham; his nephews, Justin and Christopher Desrosiers both of Townsend; his uncle, Henri Galipeau; and many cousins and friends.
He was also the nephew of the late Roland Galipeau.
Family and friends will honor and remember Richard's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday April 17th from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
