Waltham – Mr. Richard A. Dunton, of Waltham, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at his home. He was 65.
Rich was born in Cambridge on December 16, 1945, a son of Nellie (Paone) Dunton of Watertown and the late Frank Dunton. He was raised in Watertown where he graduated from Watertown High School in 1963. He had been a Waltham resident for the past thirty-seven years.
He worked for more than thirty years for Waltham Services as a pest control technician. Rich was also a past president and longtime member of the Dante Alighieri Lodge No. 648, Order of Sons of Italy in Waltham. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed sports and the outdoors. He was also a pretty good cribbage, backgammon and card player.
In addition to his mother Rich leaves his wife of 36 years, Patricia A. (DeMeo) Dunton; his sons, Scott M. Dunton and his wife, Marni, of Bridgewater, Shawn P. Dunton and his wife, Susan, of Maynard, Jeffrey R. Dunton and his wife, Maria, of Natick, Frank Dunton and Richard A. Dunton, Jr., both of Newton; his grandchildren, Samuel, Paige, Jack and Aiden Dunton; his brother, Steven Dunton of Marlborough; four sisters, Kathleen Dunton of Watertown, Shirley Dunton of Arlington, Gail Melanson of Waltham and Sharon Higgins and her husband, Brad, of Marlborough; his mother-in-law, Lorraine DeMeo of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Rich was also the son-in-law of the late Raymond S. DeMeo and brother-in-law of the late Mike Melanson.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rich’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, January 9th, from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Monday morning when his funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
