Mr. Richard F. Spencer, of Waltham, died Wednesday, December 28th in his home after a lengthy illness. He was 57 years old.
Richard was born in Boston on June 14, 1965, a son of the late Leonard and Carole (Flora) Spencer. When he was young his family moved to Canada where Richard spent the majority of his childhood. He graduated from Harrison Trimble High School in Moncton, New Brunswick in 1984. He moved back to the United States and married the love of his life, Sherry (Bouchard) Spencer, in Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Waltham in 1992. Richard had worked as a sales associate at the Home Depot for many years.
Richard loved to bowl, dance, golf and laugh; he was a true jokester and loved making his family and friends smile. One of Richard’s favorite past times was watching old television shows such as Columbo, Mash and Hogan’s Heroes, but above all, he loved his family more than anything in the world. Of all the interests and hobbies life gave him, spending time with his wife and son was his top priority.
In addition to his parents, Richard is reunited in Heaven with his siblings, the late Frederick “Ricky”, Lynn, and Pamela, his nephew Richard (Ricky) and his mother-in-law, the late Gloria Bouchard.
He leaves his wife, Sherry (Bouchard) Spencer, of Waltham; his son, Brandon Spencer; his twin brother, John Spencer (Charline) of Fitchburg and brother Leonard Spencer, Jr., of Framingham; his father-in-law, Jean “Zambo” Bouchard, brother in-law Donald (Sue) Bouchard; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends will honor and remember Richard's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, January 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Friday morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
