Richard G. Gladu

West Newton - Mr. Richard G. Gladu of West Newton died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at the Tippett Home in Needham. He was 68. Born in Somerville, a son of the late Louis and Claire (Beauchamp) Gladu, he lived in Brighton before moving to West Newton more than 40 years ago. He graduated from Brighton High School and attended Northeastern University. Until his retirement, Mr. Gladu worked as a sales representative for Boston Cedar and Millwork Company of Avon and before that he held the same position for many years with Namco of Winchester. An avid golfer, he belonged to the Sliver Club, an industry golfing group and to the Harry L. Folsum Club, a lumbermen's association. Mr. Gladu was also a Korean War veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. He leaves his wife, Josette L. (Poulin) Gladu; his children, Jacqueline M. Barto and her husband Kurt of Lewis Center, OH and Raymond G. Gladu and his wife Christina of Roswell, GA; two grandchildren, Grayson and Emma Gladu; his sister, Evelyn Gladu and her partner Bette Spear of Melrose; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late John Gladu. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Tuesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Bernard’s Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Tufts N.E. Medical Center, c/o Heart Transplant Program, 750 Washington Street, Box 5931, Boston, MA 02111.
