Richard P. Jacobs

Waltham - Mr. Richard P. Jacobs, Sr., of Waltham, died Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Cambridge Hospital. He was 81. Born in Damariscotta, Maine, Mr. Jacobs had lived in Waltham for many years. He was a supervisor for the U.S. Post Office in Framingham for twenty years until his retirement. Mr. Jacobs was a World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War veteran who served with the United States Navy. He was an avid fisherman and bowler Mr. Jacobs was the son of the late Paul and Gertrude (Feltis) Jacobs; father of the late Randall D. Jacobs; and brother of the late Sally Blake, Gordon and Robert Jacobs. He is survived by his wife, Edith F. (Dellepigne) Jacobs; his sons, Richard P. Jacobs, Jr. and his wife Jane, of Bolton, Ronald J. Jacobs and his wife Lisa of Uxbridge, Reynold Joseph Jacobs of Damariscotta, Maine, and Robert W. Jacobs and his wife Andrea of Walpole; his daughter-in-law, Mary Jane (Anderson) Jacobs of Waltham; his brothers, Roland Jacobs of Florida and Winton, Paul, and Bradley Jacobs, all of Maine; his sisters, Mary Gilman of Virginia and Linda Simmons, Pauline Dalton, and Patricia Hagar all of Maine; twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, July 12th, at 1 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to The Randall D. Jacobs Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Christie (Jacobs) Lucente, 15 Tavern Road, Waltham, MA 02453.
