Richard C. Jensen

Waltham – Mr. Richard C. Jensen, of Waltham, died on Monday October 14, 2013 in Meadow Green Nursing Home. He was 96.
Richard was born in Waltham on March 5, 1917, the son of the late Richard and Marie (Svenson) Jensen. He began his career working at the Waltham Watch Factory and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. After the war he returned home to Waltham and worked at W.H. Nichols Manufacturing Company.
Richard was driven to provide for his family and took courses at Harvard in accounting and bookkeeping. During his time working at Nichols he enjoyed socializing in a golf league with his colleagues. When able, Richard and his family loved to travel, spending time throughout Europe, Canada and visiting his parents homeland of Denmark many times.
He was the husband of the late Loretta M. (Lattimer) Jensen.
He is survived by his children, Loretta Googins of Waltham, Patricia A. Mellen of Pennsylvania and Harold L. "Roy" Googins and his wife, Marta, of Braintree. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was the father-in-law of the late William Mellen.
Funeral services will be held privately.
