Watertown Mr. Richard F. McNeil, of Watertown, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at his home. He was 78. Born and raised in Somerville, a son of the late Frances (Barry) and Wilbur McNeil, he moved to Watertown 38 years ago. He graduated from Somerville High School and after that, he served with the United States Navy during World War II. Until his retirement Mr. McNeil worked for many years for the Boston Edison Company, first as a lineman and later as a supervisor. He was also a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham. He was the father of the late Brian R. McNeil and brother of the late Marion Sullivan, John McNeil, Lillian Donlon, Peg Dunnigan, James McNeil, Louis McNeil and Alice Painter. He leaves his wife, Mary M. (Cunningham) McNeil; his children, Marybeth McNeil of Arlington, Karen A. Delaney and her husband, Peter of Poughkeepsie, New York and Barry F. McNeil and his wife, Christine of Westford, one brother, Francis X. McNeil of Hampton, New Hampshire; one sister, Isabel Sis Skakum of Rye, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Brian, Owen, Matthew and Travis, and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
