Richard S. Murdock

Watertown - Mr. Richard S. Murdock, of Watertown, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 in Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. He was 82. Born in Portland, Maine a son of the late Mark and Emily (Morse) Murdock, Richard was a senior designer for thirty-five years for the Poloroid Corporation in Cambridge until his retirement. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #121 in Brighton, a former Watertown Youth Hockey coach and a cub scout master. Richard enjoyed playing golf in his spare time and was also a World War II veteran serving with the United States Navy. He was the brother of the late Charles J. Murdock and Mark J. Murdock. Richard leaves his wife Gloria C. (Kavey) Murdock; his sons, Richard S. Murdock and his wife, Lori, of Rockland, John R. Murdock and his wife, Kathy, of Newburyport and Robert E. Murdock and his wife, Hillary, of Allendale, New Jersey; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Thursday at 8 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Luke's Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01710.
