Waltham – Mrs. Rita P. (Mooney) Affleck, of Waltham, died Friday, August 18, 2006 at Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham. She was 90. Born and raised in Somerville, Rita was a daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (McGowan) Mooney. She lived in Waltham for more than fifty years where she was a longtime parishioner of Saint Charles Church, and until her retirement, had worked as a sales clerk at Grover Cronin’s Department Store on Moody Street. The wife of the late George G. Affleck, she leaves her children and their spouses, Frances L. Clark and her husband, James, of Weston, Thomas P. Affleck and his wife, Beatrice, of Lawrenceville, GA, Stephen E. Affleck of Boston and Patricia M. Gyorgak and her husband, Robert, of Acton; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rita was also a sister of the late Paul Mooney, Frances Murray and Esther Cobb. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 8 a.m. Wednesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
