Rita Cranitch will be lovingly remembered as thoughtful and always positive….kind and generous…and the first to step up to help her family and friends.
The thing that she cherished most in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to entertain in her home in Marshfield. It was a place to spend time with her friends and family…enjoy a game of bridge and take in the fresh ocean air. Perhaps she knew like all those who love the beach and salt air that heaven always seems a little closer nearby the water.
Rita reached her eternal rest in heaven on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 when she died at Southwood Nursing & Rehabilitation in Norwell. She was 90.
Born in Boston on April 14, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Keough) Garaway. Raised in Watertown, she was a graduate of Saint Patrick's High School, class of 1948. Bridge was a game she played regularly at either the Marshfield or Duxbury Senior Centers where she was a familiar face. A daily communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church she also served as Eucharistic minister. She loved her volunteer work with the Sowing Seeds of Hope program in Marshfield where she drove people to appointments amongst other opportunities to help serve her neighbors.
