Waltham – Mrs. Rita V. (Murray) Qualters, of Waltham, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at Meadow Green Nursing Home. She was 88.
Rita was born in Waltham on August 13, 1928, a daughter of the late David and Bertha (Reilly) Murray and had been a lifelong resident.
On November 20, 1948 she married Richard T. Qualters in Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Waltham and for the next sixty-eight plus years the couple was rarely apart. Rita spent her life doing life doing what she loved . . . being a terrific wife and mother who took great care of her family. She was a talented seamstress and quilter and had been active for years at Saint Mary's Mother's Club during her kids growing up years.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she leaves her children, Linda M. Rockey and her husband, Robert, of Framingham, Jane C. Demers and her husband, Joseph, of Waltham, Robert E. Qualters and his wife, Terri, of Campton, New Hampshire, Steven T. Qualters and his wife, Deborah, of Chelmsford and James R. Qualters and his wife, Diane, of Pepperell; her brother and sister, Edward V. Murray of Derry, New Hampshire and Eileen Giroux of Framingham; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Rita was also a sister of the late David Murray, George Murray and Frances Powers.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rita's life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, March 30th at 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall St., Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
