Rita M. Shadrawy

Mrs. Rita M. (Mastrangelo) Shadrawy, of West Yarmouth and Waltham, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 in her home. She was 84. Born in Somerville, a daughter of the late Michael and Amelia (Cicco) Mastrangelo, Rita had lived in Waltham for over fifty years and moved to West Yarmouth in 1998. She was a member of the Waltham Women's Club, Saint Jude Sodality, and during World War II she worked for The American Red Cross. Rita was the wife of the late Bernard F. Shadrawy, sister of the late Phillip and James DeAngelis and grandmother of the late Michael Shadrawy. Rita leaves one son, Bud Shadrawy, Jr. of Newton; one daughter, Judith Cahill and her husband, Ralph, of Franklin; her grandchildren, Fran Shadrawy, Andrew Shadrawy and his wife, Elizabeth, Mark Cahill and his wife, Debra, David Cahill and his wife, Nichole, and Haley Shadrawy; and her great-grandchlildren Miranda, Isabella, and Olivia Cahill. The Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
