Mrs. Rita V. (Vallely) Tarpy, of Waltham, died Friday, January 26, 2007 in The Elizabeth Seton Residence, Wellesley, after an illness. She was 80 years old. Her husband, William J. Tarpy died in 1998. Rita is survived by two daughters, Maryanne Donnelly and her husband, Philip, of Needham and Judith E. Sampson and her husband, Allan of Milford; four grandchildren, Andrew and Stephanie Sampson and Adrienne and Julia Donnelly; one brother, John P. “Jack” Vallely of Sudbury; one sister, Florence McShane of Florida and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, James and Edward Vallely and Jean Pomer. She was born in Waltham, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Maher) Vallely. A graduate of Saint Charles Borromeo High School, Rita lived most of her life in Waltham. She moved to the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley in 2000. Rita enjoyed her time at Elizabeth Seton, forming many fond and memorable friendships within the community. Rita worked as an administrative assistant at the former Waltham Watch Factory and had been a member of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish and in later years at Saint Mary's Parish in Waltham. The Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in The Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
