Robert F. Griffin

January 24, 1958 — March 31, 2025

Robert F. Griffin of Watertown died Monday, March 31, 2025, at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 67.

Born on January 24, 1958, in Waltham, Bob was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Cushing) Griffin. He grew up in Waltham, attended Waltham High School, and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston State University.

Bob’s started his career at Raytheon, where he dedicated many years before becoming the manager at Johnny’s Foodmaster, a staple of the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston. Following Johnny’s acquisition by Whole Foods, Bob continued to serve as a manager at the Whole Foods Medford location until his retirement. In retirement, he kept busy with his job at Lexus of Watertown.

Bob was quiet, but funny, with a sarcastic yet endearing dry sense of humor. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was going fishing or just getting outside to cut the grass or wash the car; he was happiest out in the fresh air of nature. And in his earlier years, he enjoyed the thrill of riding his Harley Davidson. Additionally, Bob was a passionate sports fan, following all the Boston sports teams. However, Bob’s real passion was his family.

One of his happiest days came on March 6, 2006, when he married the love of his life, Lisa D’Antilio, on a beautiful day at the Wyndham resort in Aruba. His joy and love multiplied when he and Lisa welcomed their twins, Justin and Jaime, into the world, and in return, they became his world. He loved traveling with Lisa and the kids on adventures to places like Disney, Barbados, and Hawaii. Bob’s passion for watching sports was not limited to the Bruins, Patriots, or Red Sox; in fact, his favorite was watching his son play basketball and his daughter on the volleyball court. They truly were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment he spent with them.

In addition to his wife, Lisa (D’Antilio) Griffin, and his children, Justin and Jaime Griffin; Bob also leaves his siblings, Judith Vitti (Gerry) of Glastonbury, Connecticut, Jackie Griffin, of Florida, Patti Sullivan (Tom) of Waltham, and Elaine Griffin of Waltham; his father-in-law, Ralph D’Antilio, of Watertown, and brother-in-law, Derek D’Antilio (Gisselle) of Shrewsbury, along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Friday, April 4th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
