Waltham – Mr. Robert W. Lamport, of Waltham, died Monday, March 7, 2011 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 84.
A son of the late Edwin and Sarah (Halfrey) Lamport, Bob was born in Brighton and had lived in Waltham for the past thirty-five years. He was a metrologist for the Van Keuren Company and D & R Products for over fifty years until his retirement.
A World War II veteran, Bob served with the United States Army and was a member of the 70th Infantry Division Association. A Circle of Remembrance brick on Waltham common commemorates his service.
He earned his associates degree in mechanical engineering from Lincoln Institute, which is a part of Northeastern University. Bob loved photography, genealogy, looking at all kinds of construction, and was an avid fast walker.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile E. (Kimball) Lamport; his brother, Charles Lamport of Londonderry, New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was also a brother of the late Leonard Lamport, Edwin Lamport, Phyllis Cannon, and Phillip Lamport.
