Waltham – Mr. Robert E. Lynch of Waltham, died Friday May 19, 2017. He was 71.
Bob was born in Waltham on September 12, 1945, the son of the late Hazel C. (Bigham) and Robert G. Lynch, and had been a lifelong resident.
He was raised and educated in Waltham and graduated from Saint Mary's High School. After that he earned his bachelors and master's degrees from Boston State College. On August 25, 1984 he married the love of his life, Elaine M. O'Mara, in St. Camillus Church in Arlington.
He was a talented teacher and taught at Blue Hills Regional Technical High School in Canton, Saint Mary's High School in Lynn, Christopher Columbus High School in Boston and in the Waltham Public Schools.
Most recently he had been working as an employment specialist finding jobs for the disabled for agencies including WCI, SMOC and Easter Seals.
Bob was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Elaine vacationed throughout the country and Europe. They cruised across the Atlantic, the Baltic, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean seas. Two trips to Hawaii were counted among Bob's favorites.
In addition to his wife of more than thirty-two years, Elaine, he is survived by his sister Terry Bigham; his aunt, Mary Martha Bigham and several cousins.
He was also the brother of the late Anne Stoupakis and nephew of the late Edward, Brad and Harvey Bigham.
Family and friends will honor and remember Robert's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday May 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord.
