Mr. Robert N. Mangie, of Waltham, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at home. He was 80.
Robert was born March 1, 1933 in Newton a son of the late Nelson and Mae Eva (Sampson) Mangie. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong Waltham resident.
Since age sixteen Bob worked as a paper bundler for Longview Fiber Corporation for over forty-five years, retiring in 1995. He then worked as a delivery man for a local liquor store in Waltham.
Widowed at a young age and early in his marriage Bob worked hard at raising his three children as a single parent. He delighted in being involved in the lives of his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed conversations with friends or a day trip to Foxwoods.
He is predeceased by his wife, Barbara A. (Feeney) Mangie who died December 6, 1967 and his brothers, John ' Jack' and William 'Bill' Mangie.
Bob leaves his children, Patricia R. Brendle and her wife, Cheryl A. Bergeron, of Windham, New Hampshire, Robert A. Mangie and Cynthia A. Kelly and her husband, John, all of Waltham; his grandchildren Shannon and Ryan Kelly; his sisters, Jean Gatti of Osterville, Marie Wotton of Deltona, Florida and Dianne Naylor of Carson City, Nevada; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Robert's life by gathering for calling hours on Friday from 4-8 pm in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Saturday where his Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
