Robert J. Meadows

Waltham – Mr. Robert J. Meadows, of Waltham, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton. He was 82.

Bob was born in Somerville on March 5, 1932, one of ten children born to the late Joseph and Alice Meadows. He grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. Shortly after that the family moved to Arlington where he lived for a number of years.

During the Korean War Bob served with the United States Army.

On April 22, 1961 Bob was united in marriage to Waltham native Marjorie T. Walsh in Saint Mary's Church. The couple made their home in Waltham where they raised their family and have been residents since.

Until his retirement Bob worked as an electronics technician, first at the Raytheon Company in Waltham and later at Vacuum Tubes Industry in Brockton.

Bob was always handy around the house; the kind of guy who not only had the tools but possessed the skill and talent to use them well. He enjoyed gardening and loved to go fishing whenever the opportunity came up.

In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, Marjorie, he leaves his children, Michael R. Meadows and his wife, Sherry Shepler, of Stoneham, Jacqueline L. Meadows of Nashua, New Hampshire and Stephanie M. Goyette and her husband, Richard, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; his grandchildren, Christina Fredericksen, Nicholas Fredericksen, Matthew Fredericksen, Conor Goyette and Emma Goyette; his sisters, Laura Grower and Dorothy Abbott, both of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was also a brother of the late Harry Meadows, Patricia Anderson, Joseph Meadows, William Meadows, Natalie Caissie, Richard Meadows and Edward Meadows.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, March 25th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
