Robert "Bob" Medeiros, born December 25th, 1929, in Cambridge, passed away peacefully on June 12th, 2023, at CareOne at Wilmington.
The son of Portuguese immigrants, the late Antonio and Clara Medeiros, he was raised and educated in Cambridge. He married the late Marie L. Rodrigues (†2015) on December 5th 1964, and the couple made Waltham their home for over fifty years.
Bob and Marie were longtime parishioners at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham where he volunteered as a collector and usher.
Bob was a hardworking individual who enjoyed the simple things in life. He worked as a Test-Tube Operator at Raytheon Corporation and a Cutter at Cambridge Paper Company for many years before retiring. He was also a driver for Meals on Wheels in Waltham for many years after retiring.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed attending the Portuguese Festival, Feast of Santo Christo in Cambridge since he was a child. He was also an avid Baseball enthusiast and Red Sox fan and loved animals.
In addition to his wife, the late Marie L. (Rodrigues) Medeiros, Bob was predeceased by his brother Frederick Castle, his sister Albertina Alves, and nephews, Robert Castle and William Castle.
Bob leaves his nieces and nephews, Frederick Castle and his wife Anna of Somerville, his late nephew, Robert’s wife, Joanne Castle of Leominster, Jack Rodrigues, and his wife, Elayne of Burbank, California, Gerard Rodrigues and his partner, Betty, of Mandeville, Louisiana, Louis Rodrigues and his wife, Carol of Fairhaven, Kenneth Rodrigues and his wife, Carol of Hopkinton, Marie Elena Foley and her husband, Richard of Franklin, James Rodrigues and his wife, Kim of Ft. Myers, Florida and Paula O'Leary of Reading;, and many grandnieces, grandnephews, and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on the morning of Tuesday, June 20th from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
