Robert J. Murphy

Maynard – Mr. Robert J. Murphy, of Maynard, died Friday, September 19, 2008. He was 58. Born in Waltham, a son of the late John R. and Mary V. (McDermott) Murphy, he had lived in Waltham before moving to Maynard four years ago. During the Vietnam War he served with the United States Marine Corps. Bob worked as a self-employed painter and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He leaves his daughter, Carrie A. Murphy, of Waltham; his sisters and brothers, Jean B. O'Neill of Rockport, Bernard M. Murphy of Waltham, John R. Murphy, Jr., of Framingham, Patricia A. Reid of Plymouth, James J. Murphy of Winthrop, Paul F. Murphy, Mary M. LaRose and Margaret M. Murphy, all of Waltham; his former wife, Gail Montgomery of Maynard and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late LCPL Michael B. Murphy, USMC. Committal services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 250 High Street, Waltham.
