Robert "Bob" Michael Ryan, 71, of Attleboro, peacefully passed away surrounded by his beloved family at his home on Monday, January 30, 2017.
Born on July 14, 1945 in Brighton, he was the son of the late William "Laddie" Ryan and the late Grace Rita (Mulvihill) Ryan.
Bob graduated from St. Mary's High School in Waltham, Class of 1963, attended Boston College, and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He worked for thirty years as a Computer Systems Analyst for Texas Instruments in Attleboro.
Bob honorably served our country as a Captain in the United States Army with the distinction of receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals.
A resident of Attleboro and North Attleboro for the past forty years, Bob was raised in Waltham.
He was a man of many interests. He enjoyed the outdoors, sports, gardening, birding, canoeing, fishing, camping, golfing, skiing and swing dancing. He was an active member of the Attleboro Community Theatre; a featured performer in over a dozen different productions. He was a member of the Audubon Society, and was also a titled Master Gardener.
Bob was the beloved father of Robert M. Ryan of Attleboro, Christopher L. Ryan of Rehoboth, and Matthew Ryan of Occidental, California. Bob was the adoring grandfather of Cameron, Nolan, Jake, Jackson, and Leo and loving father figure of Alex Carlson. He was the brother of Kevin W. Ryan and his wife Mary Ellen; Christine M. Ryan; and Mary Louise Ryan, all of Waltham. He had many military and other dear friends, cousins, and nephews. Bob was the former husband of Leah "Beverly" M. (Lane) George.
Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Visitation with Memorial Service on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home at 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA. A Children's room is available during the Visitation and Funeral service.
Friends and family are also cordially invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, immediately followed by a memorial service there at 4:00 p.m.
Burial services with Full Military Honors will be held privately at a later date at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
