Waltham – Mr. Robert L. ‘Bob’ Samarjian, of Waltham, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 73.
Bob was born in Framingham on January 10, 1938, a son of the late Leo and Mary (Sheytanian) Samarjian and was raised in Hopkinton and in Belmont. He was a graduate of Belmont High School and until his retirement worked as a carpenter for the Belmont Housing Authority. He and his family moved to Waltham in 1965. During the Vietnam War Bob served with the United States Army.
He was an accomplished woodworker who always lent a helping hand or a tool to family and friends in need of his expertise and talent. He also held the office of Tiler and had been a longtime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 2204 in Lexington. For years Bob and his family were members of the North American Family Camping Association and enjoyed camping trips around New England and across the country.
Bob leaves his wife, Juliette H. (Camplese) Samarjian; his children, Stephen G. Samarjian and his wife, Libby, of Burlington, Gary R. Samarjian of Chelmsford and Lisa M. Rudzinsky and her husband, Jason, of Pawcatuck, Connecticut; his brother, Gregory Samarjian and his wife, Ann, of Lincoln and he was the proud 'Papa' to his grandchildren, Stephanie, Josephine, Danielle, Gabrielle and Gary Samarjian, Jr. and Katie, Jared and Gavin Rudzinsky. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bob’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, April 3rd, from 3 to 6 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Weston United Methodist Church, 377 North Avenue, Weston where his funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
