Waltham – Mr. Robert L. Saulnier, of Waltham, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 74.
Bob was born on June 28, 1940 in Waltham, a son of the late Leger and Irene (Comeau) Saulnier. In 1957 he married Patricia A. Spaulding in St. Mary's Church and was a lifelong Waltham resident.
In early years Bob worked in carpentry with his father and then worked in facilities management for the Unitrode Corporation and later for Micro Semiconductor before retiring.
He enjoyed vacations with his family, being outdoors camping and fishing in New Hampshire and at the family cottage in Maine.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Patricia, he leaves his children, Pamela O'Brien and her husband, John of Watertown, Robert Saulnier and his wife, Angela of Waltham, Marie Negron and her husband, Anibal of Waltham, James Saulnier and his wife, Sandra of Waltham and Brenda Melanson and her husband, Francis of Marlborough; his grandchildren, Daniel O'Brien, Megan Hastie, David and Kevin O'Brien, Derek, Troy, Kyle and Shane Saulnier, Robert, Adam and Ivan Negron, Steven and Brian Saulnier, Michael Melanson, Renée and Robin LaPorte; his great-grandchildren, Kelvin and Kailey Negron; his siblings, Doris Young, Mary Gardiner and Richard Saulnier, all of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his siblings, Theresa Palmer, Harold Saulnier, Donald Saulnier and Hazel Grimes.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering for calling hours on Sunday, April 12th from 2 to 6 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery.
