Burlington – Mr. Robert E. Wade, of Burlington, formerly of Waltham, died Monday, January 30, 2012 in the Lahey Clinic, Burlington. He was 81.
Bob was born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 16, 1930, a son of the late Walter and Madeline (Shanahan) Wade. He was raised in San Francisco, California and had lived in Waltham before moving to Burlington twenty-seven years ago. He married his sweetheart, Evelyn D. Paone, a Watertown native, on June 2, 1951. During the Korean War he served with the United States Navy and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Until his retirement he worked as a systems analyst for the Environmental Protection Agency in Boston. Before that he held a similar position with Teledyne Industries in Westwood and at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford. Bob also taught in the CCD program at Saint Mary's Church in Waltham and was a longtime coach of the 'Red Legs' in the Waltham Little Nippers Baseball League and a Boy Scout leader for many years.
He leaves his wife of sixty years, Evelyn D. (Paone) Wade; his children, Patrick Farrell Wade of Latham, New York, Donna C. Wade and her husband, Brian Shaughnessy, of Waltham, Robert E. Wade, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Richland, Washington, Douglas W. Wade and his wife, Karyn, Matthew W. Wade and his wife, Sherrie, all of Stoughton and Tracey L. Wade of Burlington; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was also a brother of the late Earle, Norman, Louis 'Eddie', Arthur 'Huskie' and Regina Wade and Mildred Connor.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, February 2nd from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
