Mr. Roger L. Champeon, of Framingham, formerly of Waltham died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in Wingate at Sudbury after an illness. He was 79.
Roger was born June 25, 1939 in Waltham a son of the late Leland and Elsie (Weatherbee) Champeon. Raised in Waltham he later married Jeanne M. Poirier on June 7, 1964 in Saint Charles Chapel. Longtime Waltham residents they moved to Framingham in 1993.
Roger worked as an electrician at Babson College in Wellesley for many years before retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Waltham where he enjoyed playing darts in its various leagues. A former member of Saint Joseph's Church he was presently a member of Saint George's Parish. Roger was a talented cook and spoiled Jeanne by willingly and happily preparing the meals at home. He also enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his wife of 54 years Jeanne, he leaves his sons, Capt. WPD Steven R. Champeon (Ann) of Northborough, Todd L. Champeon of Waltham and Chad M. Champeon (Henny) of Maynard; his grandchildren, Kyle, Cory, Nicholas and Natalie; in-laws, Gerard (Florida) Poirier, Albert Poirier (late Evelyn), Leonard Poirier (Claire), Maria Babineau (Louis), Norman Poirier (Rita), Julia Poirier (Leo), all of New Brunswick, Canada, Florence Goguen (late Aurel) of Gardner, Irene Cullen (Bill) of Maynard and Peter Poirier (Carol) of Thornsbury, Ontario, Canada and the late Corinne Cormier, Doris LeBlanc and Paul-Emile Poirier; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Roger's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, May 5th from 3 to 7 p.m. An additional visiting hour will be held on Monday morning at 9 a.m. in Saint George's Church, 74 School Street, Framingham followed by his Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial in Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham is private.
