Waltham – Mr. Roland Boudreau, of Waltham, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 81.
Roland was born on September 3, 1934 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, a son of the late Camille and Doris (LeBlanc) Boudreau, and was raised in nearby Memramcook. In 1961 he and his wife Gladys moved to Waltham where they raised their family and have been residents since.
Until his retirement Roland worked as a welder and pipefitter for the TG Gallagher Company of Cambridge and was a member of Local No. 537.
Golf became a passion in later years and Roland could be found almost every weekday on the course, often at his favorite, the Leo J. Martin Golf Memorial Golf Course in Weston. In addition to spending time on the links he enjoyed sports of all kind, especially hockey and baseball.
Roland and Gladys enjoyed traveling a great deal. A highlight for both of them was a trip to Australia and New Zealand to celebrate Roland's retirement.
He leaves his wife of fifty-eight years, Gladys C. (LeBlanc) Boudreau; his children, Louis Boudreau and his wife, Dora, of Waltham, Bernard Boudreau and his wife, Joanne of Newton, Janice Boudreau and Bob Malone of Waltham, Jill Lilley and her husband, Tom, of North Reading and Nancy McCarthy of Sudbury; his grandchildren, Bobby, Renée, Kevin, Morgan and Ryan Boudreau, Sarah, Connor and Abigail Lilley and Jack and Liam McCarthy; his great-grandchildren, Mia and Ella Boudreau; his brothers and sisters, Raymond, Maurice, Leonard, Alfred and Eugene Boudreau and Rachel Hebert, all of New Brunswick and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Roland's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, October 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
