Waltham – Mr. Ronald W. Caterino, of Waltham, died Friday May 30, 2014 peacefully at home. He was 81.
Ron was born in Arlington on January 26, 1933, a son of the late Angelo and Alice (McInerney) Caterino. He was raised in Arlington and later received a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University. He worked at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown for over 40 years. He also worked at the United Parcel Service and was a member of Local No. 25 of the Teamsters Union.
During the Korean War Ron served with the United States Army.
He enjoyed working in the outdoors and swimming in the ocean. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His passions were carpentry, art, music, and football. He was known for his humor, friendliness, generosity and kindness to animals.
Ron leaves his beloved wife Marlene Pati Caterino; his children, Ann Ciccarelli and her husband, Stephen, of Burlington, Daniel Caterino and his wife, Jennifer, of Watertown, Libby Caterino of Nahant, David Caterino of New Hampshire and Susan Kehler and her husband, George, of Tennessee and his grandchildren Mia, Michael, Alyssa and Jason.
He was also the brother of the late Donald Caterino.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ron's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, June 3rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Walnut Hills Cemetery, 96 Grove Street, Brookline.
