Waltham – Mr. Ronald P. Martin, of Waltham, died September 7, 2010 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was 81.
Ron was born in Boston on July 15, 1929, a son of the late George and Dorothy (Buhlman) Martin. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Navy. A lifelong resident of Waltham, Ron was a self-employed milk man retiring after a thirty-five year career. He was also a life member of the PFC John M. Sullivan, USMC VFW Post #10334 and served as their Quartermaster for fifteen years. In his spare time Ron was an avid bowler.
He leaves his wife of fifty-nine years, Jeannette M. (Blouin) Martin; his son Steven K. Martin and his wife, Janice, of Hudson; his grandson Christopher Martin and his wife, Christina, of Worcester; his siblings, Alan Martin of Billerica, Norma LaRosee of Carver and Susan Walsh of Kelso, Washington and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was also a brother of the late Douglas Martin and Janice Silver.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ron’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, September 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Committal services will follow in the Newton Cemetery Chapel.
