Waltham - Rev. Rosamond (Johnson) Coss, beloved wife, mother of four, grandmother of four, aunt and great aunt to many, passed away following a swift and fierce battle with cancer. Born December. 6th, 1928 in Cohasset, Rosamond, known to her friends and family as Roddy, graduated from Windsor School and attended Radcliff College. In her youth she enjoyed competitive sailing and tennis at the Cohasset Yacht Club. She was married to William H. Coss of Belmont. Roddy is survived by four children and their families, Paul D. Coss, Mia (Coss) Crowell, Rari Ann Coss and Ellen Higginson (Coss) Kennedy. Grandsons Ross and Tim Crowell and Sebastian and Ian Coss (Kennedy) also mourn her passing. In her lifetime Roddy studied many topics including politics, law, real estate, writing, and classical guitar. She held jobs in several arenas, working as a paralegal, writing for the local paper, and teaching guitar lessons. An avid bird watcher, she knew and loved every bird that passed through her life. Her passion for music and birds was rivaled only by her spirituality. Her entire family sang the Folk Mass at St. Ann's Parish in Wayland during the tenure of Father Hogan, Father Osterman, and Father Paul McInerny. Under her guidance the Mass became a weekly favorite for the parishioners. Following the death of our father in 1988, she branched out and began singing and playing guitar in multiple parishes, her favorite being the weekly Mass at the Fernald School Chapel. Rosamond continued her spiritual journey and became a Certified Chaplain and then a Spiritual Director. Her studies included intensive practice in Contemplative Outreach, Centering Prayer, and Insight Meditation. Roddy both participated in and led many retreats in both the Christian and Buddhist tradition. Her search for that which is divine and yet unites us all led her to the One Spirit Seminary. In the two years prior to her diagnosis she participated in their educational program and graduated last June an Ordained Interfaith Minister.Roddy left her family with the gifts of spirituality, compassion, an appreciation of education and music, and of course, a fondness for ducks.
